:: :: :: 8.21.04 - 8.27.04 Schnell Family Barn Raising

You are invited to join me for the raising of the Schnell Family Barn in Brecksville, Ohio. The barn is hand crafted from Eastern White Pine and Douglas Fir timbers utilizing traditional mortise and tenon joinery with Walnut pegs and splines. The barn will sit upon a traditional sandstone foundation and be protected from the weather with a Vermont slate roof. I will be working on site all week, pre-assembling and fitting the frame on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The raising will begin on Thursday morning, lasting into the afternoon lifting the large timber assemblies into position with a crane. Friday will be used to finish any crane work and complete the pegging and detailing of the joinery. Lunch will be provided on Thursday afternoon, and a bonfire is scheduled Friday night at the Beganyi residence in Hinckley, Ohio.
